Competing for the position of Fresher's Representative for the Drama Society is an endeavour driven by my enthusiasm for fostering a sense of community and inclusivity within our university's vibrant Drama Society. While I may not possess extensive theatrical experience, I believe my unique perspective and eagerness to learn can contribute positively to the society's welcoming environment.
My interest in drama extends beyond the stage, encompassing the profound impact it has on individuals and communities. I am fascinated by the diverse narratives and creative expressions that drama facilitates. If elected as Fresher's Representative, I aim to leverage this passion to create an inclusive space where both experienced and novice members can explore and appreciate the art of drama.
As someone who understands the challenges of being a newcomer to university life, I empathise with the journey that freshers embark upon. I intend to focus on initiatives that ease this transition, fostering connections among new members and providing a supportive environment where everyone feels valued. My commitment lies in creating an atmosphere where individuals can explore their interest in drama, irrespective of their prior experience so that even beginners like me feel included.
I want to be a helpful member of the drama society and having joined the society this year as a fresher, I want to ensure that the future freshers will be as welcomed to the drama society as I was. I believe that with my skillset of communication, leadership and creative thinking, I'll be able to make an impact on the point of contact between freshers and the drama society community.
Hi, I'm Audrey and I'm a first-year English Literature student :)
Despite only joining DramaSoc this year, I'm excited to take the chance to be a part of the committee and act as a voice for freshers within the society. When I took on my first DramaSoc project (watch Reclamation on YouTube if you haven't already!!), I felt such a welcoming environment full of like-minded, passionate people. As Freshers' Representative, I want to maintain a clear line of communication between freshers and the rest of the society, as well as increase participation and opportunities for freshers as a whole. For the coming year, I would like to start more freshers-led initiatives, such as potentially a smaller showcase.
I'm proficient in the skills of effective communication and leadership, having previously represented my high school cohort as Student Council Chairperson. I've also acted as Head of Communications for my high school's LGBTQ+ organisation. Currently, I'm in the English Department Staff Student Consultative Committee and an EDI representative for my course. I have a lot of experience in problem-solving, organisation and collaborating with others to work towards a shared goal.
I hope to pursue effective representation of my fellow freshmen and make sure that our voices are heard!
