Niharika Mudigonda

Hi everyone! My name is Niha and I am currently a second-year economics student. As a child, I learned Indian classical dance but took a long break until I joined dance soc in my first year, where I was exposed to a bunch of new styles. Dance society has been a big part of my first year, providing much needed stress relief, so I would love to give back to the society by running for treasurer.

The most significant responsibility of treasurer is handling the annual budget and conversing efficiently with other committee members. Therefore, organisation and teamwork skills are essential to producing results. Previously, I was a part of the school council, where I worked collaboratively with other members to convince the board to include trousers in our school uniform. I also have experience leading a society as I founded the economics club in school and played an integral role in organising events. These experiences have taught me to be a team player and remain calm under pressure, which are valuable skills needed to thrive as treasurer.

Also, as an economics student, I have to deal with numbers 24/7, so I am very comfortable handling reports and taking charge of the annual budget. I am committed to the role, and my main goal is to secure more funding so members will experience greater benefits. I am confident I have the skills needed to be treasurer and look forward to becoming a friendly face in dance soc. Thank you!

Gemma Ng

Hey everyone! My name is Gemma and I am suitable for this role as I've been in Dance society since I joined UCL last year. I was fresher's rep last year and am currently TD Producer. If you don't already know me, I am in year 2 studying medicine, and you'll see me mainly at hip hop and break classes!

I am nominating myself as I believe I have the knowledge and skills that are needed of me as a treasurer given my encounters with Sophie and Vicky (previous 2 treasurers) regarding forms and budgets for TD and also payments last year when I got to familiarise myself with all the events in dance soc:)

I can step up to this role based on my understanding of how dance society and the committee works, therefore I would be able to organize payments and make sure forms are submitted on time in advance so our lovely workshops and events can go smoothly!

I'm also confident that I'll be able to work well with the rest of the comm since we now see each other almost every week:)

I know it may be a slight challenge at first if I do get the role with TD in less than a month, but I believe that I have great organisational and time management skills that'll help me with the challenges I might face in this role.

Additionally, although the role of TD Producer will be empty if I get chosen for treasurer, I will still continue to produce TD which is on December 10th and therefore there will be no damage if I take up the treasurer role.

I hope you all vote for me and have a wonderful day <3

Penelope Hart-Jones

Hi I'm Penny!! This is my second year in the dance society and I'm super excited to be running for Treasurer this academic year. You may have seen me at the weekly Jazz and Contemporary classes, or part of the class showcase and 24hr show. You will also see me at Blooms auditions this year (fingers crossed!). The opportunities dance soc brings to make new friends, further dancing skills or start a whole new passion is one of the main reasons why I would want to run for Treasurer.

I understand that it is a significant role in the society, with commitment and teamworking at its core. I will need to manage my time between academic life and dance life, but these are all aspects that I pride myself on. I want the society to financially prosper, with smooth running shows, rooms booked accordingly, and to continue great relationships with our fantastic sponsors.

I am also currently part of the Students Union Activities Team, working on the reception to help with all society and club queries, therefore I already have extensive knowledge on all financial processes and deadlines at the union, so this is not something that I would need time to learn. I have been working there for over a year, meeting many different Treasurers, and have picked up tips and tricks to help grow our society, and know clearly how successful societies run behind the scenes.

I am ready to throw myself fully into this society and take on all the stresses and fun times that come with it!

Chelsea Ju

Hello everyone!

I'm Chelsea, I'm a 3rd year PPE student and I am primarily trained in ballet, but I enjoy venturing out of my comfort zone and also taking classes in jazz and hip hop. I joined the society last year and participated in shows like the 24 hour show, Freshers' Show, and Blooms.

As Treasurer, I need excellent communication and organizational skills. I have experience in these types of administrative work because I used to be vice president of a large volunteering organization. My primary responsibilities included filing the necessary paperwork and being the liaison between the school and the organization whenever problems occurred. As Treasurer, I would be doing something similar as the point of communication between the society and the SU.

Furthermore, we can generate more revenue by holding workshops for non-dancers. Since Blooms is incredibly well received, I believe people would sign up and pay for workshops where they can come and learn a snippet of the choreo they watched in the show. Moreover, as someone who worked part time last year as a content creator for a tutoring organisation, I'm accustomed to working towards multiple deadlines and managing my time effectively.

Dance has always been one of my outlets for when I'm feeling jittery and antsy. At the end of the day, I'm running because I found a supportive community here that enriches me and pushes me to always improve, and I want to help contribute towards that culture as well. Thank you!
