Hi this is Chloe! I started my dance portfolio with K-pop dance lessons since Grade 7 as extra-curricular activities and now have jazz-funk, street dance and heels added. Dancing to me is not only a hobby, it is a momentum, an attitude, a commitment that derived from it, and all of that being applicable to every life spectrum. I joined a public showcase performance earlier in HK, apart from the amazing performances from dancers, I saw the success of the showcase attributed much also to the dedication of staff in organising the event from a zero position until show date and similarly the 24H Show I joined last month. I decided to devote myself to dance more not even on stage but also from backstage – cohering dance loving freshers especially, letting many others to recognise the joy, fun, relaxation and friendship the dance family offers. I am a good team player which is demonstrated in my experience as a volunteer worker in an NGO as well as other societies I joined in high school involving lots of meetings and communication. I gained valuable experience from different roles, as a researcher supporting other team members, chief graphic designer for student union newsletter publication to being the chairlady of my high school maths team which, in addition to being both a choreographer and a dancer, makes me feel competent in fulfilling my responsibilities in the Dance Society. It would be my pleasure to be your freshers representative!
Hi my name's Izzy
I’d love to become a Freshers’ Representative to get more involved with the committee and share the joy of dance with everyone! I’m comfortable working in teams and happy to help out any way I can. I’m also very passionate about dance. I studied at a full-time ballet school and now enjoy dancing for fun to take my mind off uni work! I’ll be dancing at the Freshers show and Transcendance.
I think I’d be a good fit for the role because I have experience of working in my previous dance school, organising classes as well as teaching workshops (for children and adults.) I also used to perform for school children with the charity Kids Love Lambeth which included dance shows followed by a Q&A section for the audience to encourage them to try dancing themselves.
I’ve really enjoyed the dance society so far and I especially like that people are so supportive of one another. I think this inclusive environment is really important. As a representative, I’d like to encourage people to give dance a try even if they’re new to the dance world.
Thank you!
Hey everyone ! My name is Auriane, I study in the International Social and Political Studies programme and I would like to become your fresher's rep this year ! Dance is my whole life and it's been so pleasant to meet and dance with so many lovely people in the UCL Dance society that I felt compelled to join the committee. Here are a few reasons why you should elect me as your fresher's representative :
I'm an organized person. During my final years of high school, I was balancing music and dance on top of a 40hrs school schedule and I'm still alive to tell the tale. And for those who believe in astrology: I'm a Virgo. These organization skills that I have earned throughout the years will help me fulfil my duty as fresher's rep while doing school work and preparing the shows.
I'm also invested in Fresher's Show as a choreographer and I hope to be in Blooms. This will give me a grasp of how to produce a show, preparing myself for Triple Bill.
My main aim as fresher's rep is for your point of view to be heard on the committee (if you have any concerns or ideas you'd like to bring up). I'm also here to listen to you in need of help, or orient you towards someone else that can help you. But most importantly, I'm here so you can have the best first year in Dance soc and at UCL.
Overall, I really hope you'll vote for me to be your Fresher's rep. I'm super motivated for the job and cannot wait to see what the year holds for us !
Hi everyone! I'm Kayley and I do hip hop & street dance. As an active member, I would like to make dance society a more welcoming place, especially for freshers and dance beginners :)
With experience in being chairlady of orchestras, captain of multiple sports teams and the founding organiser of a youth conference, I have the leadership required to represent a peer group, as well as the transferrable skills required to organize an event.
Being responsible makes me a suitable candidate as there are so many duties I will have to take care of. I can promise I take your feedback seriously as I can empathize on your concerns, and I will pay attention to your opinion and make sure there are follow-up actions to it.
With high requirements for collaboration, being a good communicator helps me speak up on behalf of freshers by relaying feedbacks to corresponding persons for follow-up. I will also be able to facilitate effective communications between different groups of people, that is, between freshers and the core committee, other year groups and with other freshers.
If elected, a simple but realistic goal of mine will be to encourage dancers to feel confident and supported enough to step up for the showdown at the end of each dance class. By being a frep, this will help me connect with our members and make dance society more supportive and enjoyable!
To make this positive change happen, please cast your vote for me for a responsible frep that listens to your concerns!
Tango, or more generally dancing is not a habit or a hobby to me. It is an ambition, it is an enthusiasm, it is how I show my love and passion for something that has been and will be the most prominent component of my life. I do not only think of dancing or in my terms "tango-ing" while moving in couples around other couples but a way that I reflect my character and my long-lasting enjoyment of life. I started tango in the high-school and I converted my tango club into a society full of passionate and delightful people whose only will was to enjoy the moment. As they say "CARPE DIEM!!" And I did this in less than four years.
I am aware that in university I only have three years, however right now I am more sophisticated and experienced in "tango-ing" compared to any other time in my life. Hopefully, if I am lucky enough I would be able to spread this enjoyment and love throughout our great university and extraordinary society in whole. There is an expression "When the rhythm of the music changes, the dance steps must change also." I am accustomed to changes and I assure you I am very swift and smooth in my steps. I will put all my effort to share this love and enthusiasm with my peers this year as the Freshers' Rep if I am elected. LET'S DANCE TOGETHER this year!
