Maya Lau

I stand as external relations officer in order to contribute to the societies' purpose of teaching public speaking and increasing confidence in a safe space. I value the way the society works, professionally, openly and with a goal in mind to make everyone feel welcome. I would like to support this effort and bring my own ideas and innovation and make the events even more versatile.

Harold Parra Halder

As External Events Officer, I aim to leverage the unique service the Communication Society provides to the student body when leading external expansion opportunities. These would include collaborations with not only other UCL Societies, but also societies from other universities, and organisations or speakers that would help our members further their goals within public speaking. This would also mean bringing about novel formats for events, such as speaker presentations and skills workshops.

My previous experience within the hospitality sector, as well as being the Director of the UCLe VC Fund, has provided me with the communication and networking skills necessary to succeed within this role and achieve the goals outlined above. Ultimately, my primary goal is to expand the tools and resources the society can draw on in order to level up its already impressive set of workshop activities, and share with as many other students as possible just how valuable and important public speaking is.
