Election post
Hello fellow board gamers! I'm Matthew, a 2nd year Chemistry PhD student and have 4 years practice in explaining and playing board games (almost). As your Post Grad Representative, I would like to:
- Maintain and manage the running of Post-grad board game events, which went well last year from experience.
- Be a familiar face in the in-person sessions, in which one is comfortable talking to if they need help understanding game rules or setup.
- Give members the opportunity to request games in my collection that the society does not currently have.
From experience in previous board gaming groups, there is often a fear of delving into other games which are more complex to learn, and this is where I can use previous experience to help newer members discover the vast variety of board games the society has to offer. Bringing my own games to the sessions may help guide the society in choosing what new board games they should buy. As a bonus, I am likely to be in attendance for almost all sessions throughout the year due to the flexibility of my research.
Anyways, thanks for reading this manifesto and feel free to get in contact with my via Discord (username is epic_frenzy) for now, whether it be about what to expect in sessions (if you are relatively new or currently hesitant to join a session as of yet), or what games I can bring in for you to try out. As for my profile picture, yes I enjoy Euro-style games and the cards I am holding are from a game I own and love to play :P.
