Kenny Zhou

Hi everyone! My name is Kenny, a first year biomedical sciences student.

I am really easygoing, extroverted and always fun to be around with. I enjoy talking with people and hearing back ideas. I always have a passion on biopharma subjects; since high school I had given out multiple lectures as an active member in biology society. I had also organised the WeChat biomed freshers chat for academic discussions. While realising that there is a big difference between college and work life, this society could be a great platform for our members to understand this transition to the industry and also to provide future insights for us to have an idea on our career choices.

As the vice president of the society, I would like to implement the following in the future:

1.Academic seminars/webinars or talks with invited professionals from the biopharmaceutical industry or professors from institutions to allow members to learn about the fields we are interested in, to assist with CVs and internships, and also to network with these professionals. These could gain individuals advantages during job applications, and are chances which are hardly found elsewhere.

2.More fun activities and events like pizza night or pub night which members can socialise with others and have a great time

3.Utilise social media platforms furthur (such as creating a whatsapp group) and regularly update so that information about upcoming events could be accessed easily

Thank you for the trust and vote for me please!

Erica Park

Hi everyone!

I'm Erica Park, a 3rd year MSci Natural Sciences student, and I am applying for the role of Vice President.

As the current interim Treasurer, my colleague and I have been working diligently on starting this society throughout the summer holiday. Using my experience and current senior position in the UCL MedTech Society as conference chair and Treasurer, I have been able to use my logistical and organisation skills I've gained throughout the years to get the society started, as well as plan various events and conferences for members for Term 2.

As someone who's worked on starting the society since last year, I believe I am well-suited for the role of Vice President, and if elected, I aim to work closely with both committee and society members to organise the following events:

  • Mentorship Programme, to match our members with relevant industry professionals in various fields for a chance to network and gain application advice
  • Drug Discovery Conference, with esteemed scientists and entrepreneurs in various fields within the biopharmaceutical industry to come in for a talk, with panel discussions, Q&A, and a chance to network
  • Talks, to be held throughout the year on subjects our members are interested in, whether that is a specific scientific topic or start-ups!
  • Socials for our members, and collaboration socials with other societies

Thank you for your consideration and please contact me at [email protected] if you have any questions!

Khwaish Davda

As a Medical Innovation and Enterprise student, my passion for the pharmaceutical industry is quite evident. I am always looking out for opportunities to gain knowledge about the industry. However, my passion is not the only thing that encouraged me to stand up for the position of Vice-president of the Biopharma Society, but rather a desire to make a change and create an impact. I want to ensure that every member benefits from society by receiving enriching and valuable experiences and gaining insights into the industry, helping them bridge the gap between academic knowledge and relevant real-life applications. I aim to do this through panel interviews, meet and greets as well as assistance in internships in firms, part of the industry. I also want to implement the experience I gained through leading a club in high school where I was able to hone leadership, communication and collaborative skills. Furthermore, I want to help foster a positive, friendly and respectful environment where everyone can openly share their opinions without the fear of being judged, motivating everyone to participate. My motive for standing up for this position is to transform this society into one big family where everyone empowers each other and learns and grows together.
