Atticus Tiplady

Hi everyone, in case you don’t know me, my name is Atticus, and I’m running to be your 2025/26 SEAD Freshers Program Representative.
Engineering and Architecture has always played a huge role in who I am today. When I was 10, two science YouTubers captured my imagination because of their ability to break down complex problems to either solve or explain simply. Mark Rober's began each episode with questions such as "How could you make a dart that never missed a dart board?" while Hank Green was able explain the basics of chemistry, in such a way that even a 10-year-old could understand. These two individuals inspired me such that I became obsessed with how things worked and how to expand on those ideas, experiment, problem-solve, and build.
Outside of school, I have developed strong teamwork, leadership and communication skills through my role as Head Peer Tutor in Grade 12 and as a Ski Coach for the past two winters, both strengthening my ability to explain ideas carefully and attentively listen to other’s feedback and perspective.
As your Freshers Program Rep, I want to highlight this, making every student’s voice heard and contribute to shaping our shared experience. I will ensure transparent communication between staff and students will exist, being an advocate for feedback on coursework and reports, helping organize SEAD events that bring everyone closer together.
I would be honored to represent our society, making SEAD an even stronger and connected community.
