Hi, I’m Teresa, a Portuguese student at UCL, and I’m running to be your next Welfare Officer because I genuinely care about people’s wellbeing (emotionally, mentally, and socially). I believe every student deserves to feel safe, supported, and respected throughout their time at university.
As someone who moved to London from abroad, I know how isolating and overwhelming university life can sometimes feel. That’s why I want to be a voice for students who need one: someone who listens, acts, and makes a real difference.
If elected, I will:
- Advocate for better mental health support and ensure all students know where and how to access help.
- Create safe, inclusive spaces where people can talk openly about their struggles without fear or stigma.
- Promote initiatives that support both physical and emotional wellbeing – from mindfulness sessions to peer-support networks and social inclusion events.
- Prioritise international students and minority groups, making sure everyone feels seen, heard, and valued.
- Work closely with UCL services to improve accessibility, communication, and the response to student concerns.
I don’t just want to represent you: I want to support you. As Welfare Officer, I will put compassion at the heart of everything I do, making sure no one feels like they’re going through this journey alone.
Let’s build a UCL where wellbeing isn’t an afterthought but a priority. Vote for me!
