Livia Mariano Fordellone

I am standing for President because I believe the UCL Liberal Democrats should embody what liberalism truly means: open and free debate, and politics that listens to and works for people and their communities.

This term I have worked to make our society more connected and active than ever, building relationships with MPs, Young Liberals, and Lib Dem societies across the UK. We hosted Politics 101 with Charlie Clinton, discussing UK's political system and current affairs; took part in Liquor and Liberalism in Oxford, strengthening links with other student Lib Dems; and are participating in the Great NHS Debate alongside Labour, Conservatives, and MedSoc. We have also organised fun social events, such as our pub crawl, to help members get to know each other and build a stronger community.

As a passionate student of UK politics and a competitive debater, I want to make UCL a university where thoughtful discussion thrives and where freedom of speech is celebrated through reason, empathy and curiosity. Being an international student has shown me how important it is to host events that inform, include and inspire. I want our society to keep bridging the gap between the party and the university, to foster collaboration across London and beyond, and to promote the vision of a Britain that is open, connected to Europe and committed to liberal democratic values.
