As a first-year Biochemistry student with an unquenchable thirst for knowledge about the molecular interactions that underpin natural phenomena, I believe that science does not lie within the pages of textbooks — it lies in the heart of dialogue. Dialogue between one esteemed scientist and another, between a paper's author and their peer reviewer, and even between a distinguished lecturer and a curious student. As a new author for Kinesis, I wish to ensure that this scientific dialogue is not restricted to the pages of Nature or Cell, but is made accessible to all. And as a member of this society, I am standing for election: to help every first-year student, regardless of background, find their voice in communicating science.
