First year is always the hardest for students to adapt to a new education system, new environment, and new people! As an introvert among a wide variety of introverts, I know we all have our own unique interests. With this, I want to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to share their favourite activities, meet like-minded people with common passions, and—above all—are comfortable in our new home that is UCL.
It is important to emphasise the fact that introversion is not a flaw but a normal personality trait: one that has been looked down upon in our extroverted world. This society gives everyone, not just introverts, the chance to take their time settling in. Though university life often promotes more "lively" events, I hope that taking up this role in the committee will allow me to help create a more inclusive and safe space for everyone (especially first years) to voice their thoughts, opinions, as well as concerns regarding our society events.
Whether you're physically active, or more relaxed and reserved, I intend to bring your suggestions to open new activities tailored for everyone.
So let's all recharge, reflect, and most importantly have fun!
