I am standing for Academic Events Director because I believe that academic engagement lies at the heart of what makes the IR Society both intellectually vibrant but also socially impactful. This role enables me to combine my passions for global affairs with my enthusiasm for building spaces where ideas, academic perspectives, and a wide range of people can come together. As such, I want to create academic events that can bridge the gap between theory and practice, through turning readings and lectures into living conversations and interactions. I want to help deliver events that do not just inform society members, but also inspire them to think critically about the global challenges we are facing.

Through my experience organising events for Amnesty Society at my school, working as a key member of my local constituency's governing party, and participating in events with both the Diplomacy Society and IR Society, I've developed strong organisational, communication, and teamwork skills. I can plan effectively whilst also managing unexpected challenges to ensure the best events possible.

If elected, I want to broaden the range of our events as much as possible by inviting different academic speakers from the Diplomatic Service, NGOs, and international organisations. I also strive to introduce more interactive academic event formats such as educational workshops.

Above all, I want events to be accessible and representative of the diversity of international relations itself.
