I really believe in helping others and getting involved in the community. I have volunteered in nursing homes and with children while in school, and plan to be a volunteer mentor to a child this year. I wish to take part in organising and sharing opportunities to volunteer with children to others that also wish to make a difference!

"People don't care how much you know, until they know how much you care."

Someone shared this with me a few years ago, and it has stayed with me ever since. This truth drives my passion to stand for the Volunteering Officer role at UCL in Aid of UNICEF.

Volunteering is about heart, connection and making a tangible impact together. I want to be the spark that lights up our community with passion, purpose and belonging, by building a network bursting with energy, where every volunteer feels valued, inspired and ready to make a real difference.

With my experience leading member engagement and organising events over the last few years, I'm eager to strengthen existing partnerships, reach out to new organisations, and create unforgettable opportunities for our volunteers. But this role is more than just managing. It is about inspiring a movement of passionate individuals united to create change for children worldwide.

If you believe, like I do, that genuine care transforms volunteering from a task into a powerful force for good, then let's build that force together at UCL.

When I saw this role open, I knew I had to step forward—because volunteering isn’t just a “position” to me; it’s something I’ve lived for years.

As an undergrad, I spent three years in a Volunteer Office role: I managed partnerships with 8+ local organizations (from food banks to animal shelters), expanded our network by 4 new groups (doubling volunteer opportunities that term), and organized 5+ mixers/skill-shares to connect volunteers with causes they cared about. Those days taught me how to turn “good intentions” into consistent, impactful action—whether troubleshooting a partnership delay or matching a shy first-year with a role that fit their strengths.

Beyond the office, I’ve been on the ground too: I’ve sorted donations at winter drives, tutored kids at after-school programs, and even coordinated a campus cleanup that drew 60+ volunteers. I know what makes a volunteer opportunity feel meaningful (clarity, support, connection), and what frustrates people (last-minute cancellations, unclear roles).

If I’m elected, I’ll bring that mix of experience and empathy: I’ll nurture our existing partnerships (so we keep the reliable opportunities you love) and reach out to niche groups (think environmental restoration or senior companionship) to expand options. I’ll also host quick “volunteer coffee chats” to hear your ideas—because this role isn’t about my plans; it’s about making volunteering work for you.

I don’t just know the tasks of this role—I know the heart of it. Let’s make t
