If elected I would aim to:
- strengthen the identity of GenSoc as a community by creating simple “rituals”, i.e., weekly socials.
- make sure there is free food at every social.
- make sure everyone feels welcomed at GenSoc by organising events targeted at first-years and Master’s/PhD students newly joined at UCL.
- increase society’s network and funding by seeking collaboration with external organisations and universities.
What will I bring to the role:
- Leadership & teamwork: I co-found and lead a student organisation called InclusioLink. I coordinate the work of a team of 11, across several schools, to create projects and social media campaigns.
- Event planning: I have experience as a Peer Supporter in school, where I pooled ideas and organised events during Mental Health Week, including therapy animals, film nights, and interactive workshops.
- External partnership: I collaborated with Psychology Club at University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, to host 2 mental health workshops with over 30 attendees.
- Impact: I was invited to present at our school’s psychology conference with over 200 attendees, as a result of a Psychology Society talk I organised.
I am organised, proactive, and passionate about creating events where everyone feels welcome. I believe these skills and experiences make me the ideal candidate to be your next Social Events Officer.
