Marielena Kyriacou

I’m standing for Cultural Events Officer because I want to bring people together through the diverse cultures and experiences that make Europe so fascinating. Growing up in Europe's last divided capital, I’ve always been aware of how our culture shapes identity and connects communities and I’d love to share that passion by organising events at UCL. I want to create a community where events are not only fun and engaging but also meaningful, from each country's cultural nights and talks to creative workshops that celebrate Europe’s variety and encourage students to explore new perspectives.

As an active member in the European Youth Parliament and involvement in co-organising national sessions or even international forums, I’ve developed skills in communication, organisation and event promotion while enhancing my creativity. I enjoy planning activities that bring people together and creating experiences that leave a lasting impression, and I will ensure this is the case for the European society.

If elected, I would ensure events are inclusive, interactive, and accessible, giving students the chance to learn, share, and celebrate European culture while building a strong, connected community and foundation for years to come in this society. I want to further play my part to a society where every single student feels inspired, involved and part of something vibrant, a warm and welcoming European community.

Eleanor Schwab

I am standing for the position of Cultural Events Officer for the European Society because I believe there should be more opportunities to celebrate and showcase the diverse cultures of Europe. Such events not only help people from different European backgrounds feel more ‘at home’ but also allow others to learn about and appreciate the continent’s rich cultural heritage. Coming from a French and Spanish background, I have a deep appreciation for the variety and vibrancy of European cultures, and I know how enriching it can be to experience them through cultural events and exchanges. In terms of experience, I worked in event management for a media company over the summer, where I developed strong organisational skills and gained hands-on experience in planning and delivering high-quality events. For the coming year, I have a range of ideas I’d love to bring to life — including a Flamenco class and social, a European History and Culture pub quiz, a pasta-making workshop, and a wine-tasting social — all designed to make the society engaging, inclusive, and culturally enriching.

Anna-Myria Oxynos

My motivation to serve as Cultural Events Officer stems from a deep passion for Europe's rich, diverse heritage. I see the European Society as the ideal platform to transform this appreciation into vibrant, inclusive experiences for all members.

My experience in organising large-scale projects and events has equipped me with proven skills in logistics, budgeting, and effective team coordination, ensuring every event runs smoothly from concept to execution. I thrive on planning detailed schedules and promoting events effectively to maximise attendance.

My vision is to cultivate cross-cultural exchange through engaging, accessible events. I propose launching themed ‘Euro-Feasts’ celebrating specific national cuisines, hosting a multi-lingual speed-friending series to bridge language groups, and organising a European Film Night focusing on lesser-known national cinemas.

I am committed to making our society a true hub of continental connection, fostering a welcoming, enriching, and dynamic environment where every member feels their culture is celebrated. I am ready to dedicate my energy and organisational talent to making the next year our most culturally diverse and successful yet.
