Hi everyone! I’m Dia, and you might know me from my outfits or because I started the Early Childhood Education group chat for this year’s cohort! Even if we haven’t met yet, I’d love to change that! I genuinely enjoy connecting with people and hearing what they care about. My main goal as your First Year Representative is to build a community where every idea is heard and every voice matters- whether you’re confident speaking up or just finding your place. I know how it feels to be too scared to put your point across because I went through it the last two years of my life; however, things are different now that I'm in university. I vowed to myself that I'd use my voice for good and to help others, and this role would be the perfect way to do so. I did run for course representative and I thought that this would also be a good opportunity to take part in!
As your rep, I would keep communication open between all first years and the committee and make sure your opinions/ concerns are shared and acted on. If I am selected, I’d LOVE to help plan events that feel inclusive and actually reflect what you want (and you can trust me with that task because I've planned multiple south asian weddings x).
University can feel big and new, but together we can make it feel like home- one conversation (and maybe one outfit) at a time.
Feel free to ask me anything or talk to me on Instagram (@xox_dia_xox)
Hi everyone! I’m Mauricette and I’m running for Year 1 Rep because I’d love to help make Edusoc a fun, welcoming, and inspiring space where every one of us feels connected, heard, and part of something special.
As a first-year and an international student from South Africa, I know how much it means to find a sense of community and to meet new people, share experiences, and feel like you truly belong. That’s exactly what drew me to Edusoc: its inclusivity, warmth, and passion for bringing people together through education and shared ideas.
I want to be a friendly and approachable link between students and the committee, making sure everyone’s voice is represented and every idea is valued. Whether it’s helping organise events, sharing feedback, or simply being someone you can chat to, I’ll always bring enthusiasm, empathy, and care to the role.
Education has always been central to who I am, not just as something to study, but as something to live through connection, dialogue, and understanding. I want to help our community reflect that as a place where curiosity thrives, friendships grow, and every voice is valued.
Together, we can make Edusoc a home for all of us at the IOE.
My name is Lauren and I am running to be the First-Year IOE Representative. I aim to ensure that every first-year student's voice is heard and that IOE events are accessible, engaging, and representative of our diverse cohort.
I bring a wide range of leadership experience. In high school, I served as Head of Grade, representing my cohort, planning events, and speaking at assemblies-earning multiple recognitions including the Citizenship Award and IB Learner Profile awards. I also founded and led the first Mental Health Society at my school, collaborating with board members, international organisations, and diverse stakeholders. Public speaking is a strength of mine, and I have spoken to over 50 schools in Hong Kong as a member of the Jockey Club Youth Advisory Board for Mental Health, developing student-led initiatives with professionals.
Since arriving at UCL, I have already built meaningful connections with my cohort and would be honoured to represent them. I look forward to working with Tahani, the Student Voice Rep, to amplify first-year voices, promote IOE events, and expand the department's presence within the wider UCL community!
