Nelum Wickramasuriya

As the Economists' Society Treasurer, I hope to meticulously manage the finances and target them into efficient outputs. I understand that resources and their allocation are at the core of the society's potential, impacting how we can offer a valuable experience to members. Hence, I will organise fundraisers, curate budgets and methodically track records. I believe I am a good candidate for this role because of my numerical adeptness and strong quantitative skills, which will allow me to comfortably handle transactions. Previous experience at an accountancy firm has also provided me with a comprehensive background working with financial statements, analysing reports and critically thinking to find tangible solutions. Obtaining this role will allow me to further develop transferable skills such as financial planning, whilst contributing to the society to make a difference.

Adam Zhou

Hi my name is Adam,

I’m standing for the Treasurer role here today because I see our Society’s finances as a foundation to build something that lasts; a community where ideas about economics don’t stay theoretical, but become real projects, events, and discussions. Back in high school, when I helped organise Model UN activities like interschool conferences, cinema outings, and picnics, I learned that even the most inspiring initiatives only work when every number adds up. I was often in charge of balancing budgets to the last pound, anticipating costs, and keeping plans realistic yet ambitious.

As a current BSc Economics course representative, and having served as class rep for four consecutive years before university, I’ve learned how to manage responsibilities and communicate clearly. That same precision guided me through my tests (100% in the accounting midterm XD) my internships, where I worked with data-driven models in insurance and research.

As Treasurer, I want to make sure every pound in our budget reflects our energy and is used in supporting debates, talks, and collaborations that make our Society thrive. My goal is simple: to make our budget a source of confidence, never a constraint.
