My name is Marvin Chiu, and I am throwing my hat into the ring to be your First Year Representative for Events. I want to bring my energy and proven skills to ensure our calendar is packed with unforgettable opportunities.
The Events team seeks organisers who are proactive, collaborative, and creative. I have demonstrated these exact traits:
As the Director of Welfare in the Student Union in my previous secondary school, I organised and negotiated discounts with companies from initial contact to the final agreement.
As U18 Baseball Captain, I lead a diverse team, analyse performance data, and execute strategic plans under pressure, skills essential for managing timelines and collaborating with different parties.
In HKFYP, an NGO in Hong Kong, I managed marketing activities to increase the visibility of our services: proven experience that has allowed me to introduce innovative approaches to distinguish our event offerings.
I understand the dedication involved in taking an idea into an actionable, successful reality, and I'll work hard to create panels, networking opportunities, and socials that actually connect you to colleagues, alumni, and each other.
Vote for a representative with a track record of getting things done. Vote for Marvin Chiu for First Year Rep - Events. Let’s build an incredible year together.
Hi everyone, I am Rustam and I am aiming to become a representative for events at Business society because I see every event as more than a gathering, it is a strategic opportunity to build networks, share ideas, and strengthen our community!
With my background in organising Model UN conferences, being head boy, leading teams, and managing a range of creative projects, I have learned how to turn a vision into a seamless, engaging experience. I’m passionate about creating events that combine professionalism with genuine connection. Clear cases in point are networking sessions with professionals that link YOU to real industry insight, skill-building workshops like personal branding, and other socials that improve teamwork and belonging.
I also want to give first years a voice: you’ll help shape the events through polls and feedback, ensuring every session reflects what you want. To make participation exciting, I’ll introduce exclusive sneak peeks of events for voters and small incentives to encourage engagement. I believe in planning with purpose: every event should leave you with something valuable, such as a new contact, a new skill, or a new perspective. I listen carefully, analyze feedback, and make data-driven decisions to ensure our events deliver real results!
Vote for me if you want a rep who thinks ahead, collaborates effectively, and delivers excellence every time. Let’s make our first year not just memorable, but incredibly meaningful for future success!
I’m running for First Year Representative for Events because I want to help shape the experiences that define our time in the Business Society. I’m motivated by the chance to plan, organize, and host events that bring people together while showcasing professionalism, creativity, and collaboration.
As First Year Representative, I’ll ensure every event, whether a networking evening, career panel, or workshop, runs smoothly and with attention to detail. I will coordinate logistics, manage schedules, and communicate with speakers and sponsors. I enjoy working behind the scenes to make everything run seamlessly. I take pride in being organized, communicative, and flexible when challenges come up.
I also want to make sure our events truly connect with students. I will actively seek feedback from first years and share their views with the committee to align our events with their interests and goals. My goal will be to create opportunities that improve learning, build connections, and inspire participants.
Ultimately, I’m running because I believe great events don’t just happen; they come from dedication, teamwork, and attention to detail. I’m excited to bring this mindset to the Events Team and help create experiences that reflect the energy, ambition, and creativity of the Business Society’s first-year community.
You should vote for me for events representative as I have the skills needed to excel in this role. This position requires a leader who takes initiative, whose good at organisation and time management, and most importantly whose good at communication and collaboration. Over the past few years, having not only captained sports team, but also co-led societies such as Sevenoaks business society and investment society, I learnt the leadership skills and grit that I need to take initiative and make the most of each event opportunity. Playing multiple sports including, football, basketball & tennis whilst balancing multiple service & society leadership commitments and the IB diploma program taught me more about being self aware, and improving personal time management. These skills will allow me to organise each event in such a way that it runs smoothly to maximise students experiences, learning and takeaways. Finally, I developed incredibly valuable communication and collaboration skills by being extroverted. From actively seeking conversations, connections and opportunities, I learnt how to be flexible in cooperation with others in order to maximise the chances of making valuable relations and making myself opportunities. Hence, I will use my communication and collaboration skills to help organise and plan events with people and companies that offer indispensable insights and connections! If you want to make the events this year the best they can be, Vote me for representative!
I’m that first-year who genuinely loves turning ideas into experiences people remember, whether it’s a speaker panel, networking night, or just a chill social that somehow ends up on everyone’s story or LinkedIn post. I want to bring a burst of creativity and energy to the events team, making sure every session feels fresh, engaging, and actually worth showing up for (yes, even on a rainy London evening with tube delays).
I’m organised enough to make things run smoothly, but spontaneous enough to keep them exciting. From helping plan logistics to hyping up the vibe on the day, I’ll make sure our events aren’t just well-executed, but genuinely fun. My goal is simple: to make every Business Society event feel like the place to be at UCL, not because you have to, but because you want to.
I believe the best events don’t just fill a room — they create a buzz that people talk about long after they end. That’s the kind of energy I want to bring as First Year Representative (Events) for UCL Business Society.
As the Founder of Young Entrepreneurs Club at my high school, I set up pitching competitions and business challenges that linked creative students together and enabled them to exhibit their enterprises. I also initiated various fundraising campaigns under a social project - from Christmas drives to festival-inspired charity events – and those experiences taught me how to coordinate, manage and execute events that are meaningful as well as fun.
It is this creativity, teamwork and attention to detail that I would like to bring to UCL Business Society as we create firm visits, socials and collaborations which leave a mark. With passion, organisation and a can do attitude, I want to create events that bring people together, inspire thoughts and make our society unforgettable.
