Hanhao Yang

Hello everyone, my name is Hanhao, a third year Biochemistry student. I'm from China and been playing badminton for 7 years. Deeply I know probably most of us can't be bother to read people's profile that are long, so I'll keep it short to explain why I'm suitable for being a social secretary at the badminton club.

First things first, I have been helping out to run the Saturdays' social sessions at Somers Community Sports Centre for the past month. From collecting the shuttles and rackets from the president and committee members to communicating with the venue's staff, I got to know how the system works and gained experiences. I really enjoy the job, and it was my pleasure to meet and play with you guys. And some of you might recognise me from previous sessions, if you think I did an ok job, please vote for me!

Secondly, I just enjoy playing badminton and make friends from it too. I have been the member of the club for the past two years and made really close friends from the sessions. I cherish the friendship so I truly know the importance of the social sessions and what do they mean for you so I'll do my best to ensure they're run smoothly and happily if I got selected.

Thank you for considering me as a potential Social secretary!

Shania Spall

Hi, I’m Shania! 👋

Super excited to (hopefully) be your Badminton Social Secretary! I hope to bring heaps of energy both on and off the court, living up to this society’s rep of having the ‘friendliest people’ and ‘best socials’!! 👀

One thing I know has been a bit tricky for everyone is getting court time, and I’m definitely aware that some of us have been struggling with booking and allocation. If elected, I hope to do my absolute best to find solutions and make sure we’re all able to enjoy the sport without the stress of sorting out court space. I’m all about creating a fun, inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome, whether you’re an experienced player or just looking to have a go for the first time. 🏸

Beyond that, I hope to organise more casual socials where we can just kick back and relax (I know how stressful uni can be 😩). My goal is to make the badminton society a space where we can all have fun, get a good workout, and meet new people. I’m looking forward to making this year memorable for all of us!! ✨
