Psychedelics are what first sparked my passion for neuroscience and led me to major in it. I researched LSD while in high school, wrote two articles: one on its potential for treatment of alcoholism and another review comparing its action on dopamine receptors to similar mechanisms seen in schizophrenia.
In high school, I led a community service club for Ukrainian refugees, organizing English lessons, and also headed an Anti-Racism Club. I was part of the National Honor Society executive committee, where I helped organize speakers, fairs, and presentations. Those experiences really grew my organizational and leadership skills and taught me how to plan events, effectively collaborate with others, and bring ideas to life in a timely manner.
As an Academic Events Officer, I’d love to help the club host engaging talks and discussions that explore recent research and overall make psychedelics less stigmatized in the society.
