What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

For the Welfare Rep (Societies) role, I intend to bring a combination of empathy, active listening, and a commitment to promote well-being to the student community.

  • Having volunteered as a peer mentor in my high school, I am skilled in providing supportive, non-judgmental spaces where individuals feel comfortable sharing their concerns.
  • As a member of the student union in my high school, conflict resolution has taught me to approach sensitive situations diplomatically. I have developed problem-solving skills that allow me to respond effectively to members’ needs.
  • Additionally, I am familiar with the university’s mental health and support resources, enabling me to connect members with the right help. Above all, I am passionate about fostering an inclusive environment and am excited to contribute to the welfare and well-being of fellow society members.

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?
  •  The primary goal could be to foster a more welcoming and inclusive atmosphere where every member feels valued and supported. I would establish regular check-ins, either through informal gatherings or anonymous feedback channels, to ensure all members feel comfortable expressing their concerns. I also would open one-to-one discussion slot so that people might feel safer discussing one on one.
  • Many students may not know about the welfare resources available. I could aim to increase awareness by organizing workshops, sharing information on support services, and providing guidance on how to access mental health, financial, or academic resources within the university.
  • Creating a peer support network among societies, offering members a safe space to share experiences and support one another. I would organize peer-led sessions, perhaps inviting guest speakers or alumni who have experience in wellness topics, to help students feel connected and supported by their community.
Please summarise why students should vote for you.

As Welfare Rep (Societies), I am committed to fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment where every member feels supported and understood. With experience in active listening, problem-solving, and advocacy, I am ready to address members’ welfare needs and connect them to helpful resources. I will work diligently to represent our society’s concerns in the Welfare & Community Zone, focusing on promoting mental health, well-being, and inclusivity for all. By voting for me, you’ll choose a dedicated and compassionate representative who is passionate about supporting the welfare and positive experience of every society member.

If you’re looking for a Welfare Rep who’s fun, genuinely cares and is ready to bring both positivity and action to our societies, I’d be honoured to have your vote!

🧡 Approachable, friendly and empathetic I want to make sure everyone feels comfortable, included and supported without judgement. I genuinely care about people and want to make our societies a place where everyone feels welcome. If you ever need someone to talk to or advocate for you, I’m here. I am also mental health certified.

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

📝👂Real, open channels for feedback
I would make sure your opinions are taken seriously and that they lead to real action. As a Lead Academic Rep, I have found meaningful ways to hear feedback from my cohort, including anonymous surveys and will soon be launching drop-in sessions and focus groups with my fellow reps. I would be excited to offer the same open communication channels as a Welfare rep for societies!

📣 Clearer access to student welfare services
Support should be easy to find and free from confusion. I would work to make sure all welfare services are more clearly signposted, so no one feels lost when they need help.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

🗣️ Experience representing diverse voices My internships at Disney and TfL have refined my skills in representing a variety of perspectives. I know how to listen carefully, gather feedback from all sides and make sure that every student’s concerns are brought forward.

💥 Action not just words! I will ensure that your feedback leads to tangible results that improves the society experience for all. When you share an idea, concern or feedback, I will follow through and keep you updated on the progress, so you see real outcomes - not just promises.
