Election post

Status
Elected

As the Vegetarian & Vegan Society's interim Welfare Officer I have been supporting the committee with delivering events and creating a community of vegetarians, vegans, and people interested plant-based eating. If I am elected I hope to continue this work and co-organise events with other societies and student networks in UCL.

In addition, having worked since December 2023 as the Campaigns Rep of the Women's Network, I have experience in planning and delivering events that foster a sense of community amongst students: this year, we have developed our first ever book club, delivered arts and crafts sessions, and are working together on projects aimed at raising awareness on women's rights from an intersectional perspective. I hope to bring these skills in my work in Veg Soc and to help keep the society inclusive to everyone. In addition, I would like to put particular emphasis on several activities: exchanging recipes and tips on how to eat as a vegetarian/vegan student in London, social outings, and an emphasis on students' mental health (in the context of the loneliness epidemic that affects many students, and with regard to the widespread issue of eating disorders). As an active member of the Women's Network, LGBTQ+ Network and Disabled Students' Network, I am very aware of the many barriers that students can face in university, both academically and socially, and am therefore willing to listen and to support students so as to guarantee that they feel welcome in the society.
