I'm standing for the position of Social Media Officer for STAR because I am passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of asylum seekers and refugees. Through volunteering with the charity Hope for the Young, I’ve seen firsthand the challenges young asylum seekers face and understand the crucial role support and advocacy play in their lives. STAR’s mission resonates with me, and I’m committed to raising awareness and expanding its reach within our student community.
As Social Media Officer, I will focus on enhancing STAR’s online presence to attract more members and foster a welcoming, inclusive community. Social media can be a powerful tool for advocacy, capable of educating students and I will create engaging, informative content with the aim of ensuring increased involvement from STAR's followers. I am also eager to collaborate with STAR’s committee members to create cohesive campaigns that reflect STAR’s values and events. Together, I believe we can raise STAR’s profile on campus, bringing more students into the society and encouraging them to join this amazing cause.
