Election post
Hi! I'm Shahd and I'm on the Physics MSc course. I'm running for the position of Physics editor for UCL Science Magazine because I've always loved sharing my passion for Phsyics (and science and mathematics more broadly) with others and I would relish the opportunity to be involved first-hand in the science communication effort at UCL!
In the final year of my Sixth-form studies I was Vice President of my school's Philosophy Society where I worked together with other comittee members to organise talks from academics on a variety of topics in cutting-edge STEM research as well as managing the society's socials and coming up with creative ways to keep our members informed on important research updates and happenings in the scientific community.
During my undergraduate studies I served as Wellbeing Officer on the Salford University Physics Society (SUPS) committee and thoroughly enjoyed my role. I helped to organise SUPS events and to provide support for society members (in particular very nervous 1st years new to university life).
I'm organised, proactive and able to work well with others to meet their needs. I would be so grateful for the opportunity to get involved in science communication and outreach this year and so I hope to have your vote !
