Election post
Hi everyone!
My name is Lara, and I am excited to be running for the Science magazine's society first-year representative! I hope to contribute to the magazine by offering new perspectives and introducing diverse and emerging topics that will resonate with our readers. I believe that by actively listening to other people's ideas and creating surveys to gather student suggestions for what topics they believe are particularly pressing or interesting, we can all work together to improve the magazines ability to inspire curiosity and learning in students! My passion for writing and research stems from positions such as head of my 6th forms biology newspaper. During that time, I would brainstorm ideas and collaborate with others to encourage students to read beyond their classroom topics, as well as guide them on how to write their own papers. I have recently been working on two academic research papers on the impact of implants on breast cancer alongside plastic surgeons and scientists, where I was able to learn more analytic approaches to research and broaden my academic writing abilities. However, I have a real interest in expanding my knowledge and learning about new topics in all realms of science! Thank you for considering me as your first year representative! :)
