Julia Alonso-Gautrais

Heya!  I’m Julia (but you can call me juju) and I’m soooo excited to run for Triathlon Captain!

As some of you may know, I’ve been working closely with Ceci, Seb from Cycling Society, and Neve from Swimming Society, to create this new committee position!

Here’s a quick summary of what I’ve been up to:

  • During Freshers Week, I reached out to the Cycling and Swimming societies to suggest having Triathlon Captains in each society
  • I spoke with Tommy at the Bloomsbury Gym and booked the spinning area for us before Monday social runs — which we will hopefully be able to use soon!
  • I’m organising a talk featuring an Ironman athlete and coach, who will give an introductory presentation about Triathlon training and racing tips
  • Together with Adil, I led our first Brick Session at Regent’s Park last Sunday (2/11/24)! 💪

Moving forward, as Triathlon Captain, I will:

  1. 🗓 Create Weekly Training Plans by coordinating with Running, Cycling, and Swimming societies respective training — catering to everyone, from beginners to competitors!
  2. 🤕 Provide Cross-Training for athletes dealing with injuries, especially since running is a high-impact sport
  3. 😝 Organise Fun Joint Socials with the Swimming and Cycling societies, so we all get to know each other better!
  4. 🥁 Plan a Big Event… a Triathlon Relay! 🏊🚴🏃 where members from the three societies come together to race in teams!

Why would I make a great Triathlon Captain? 💥
