Aleksandra Sioda

Hi all!

My name is Ola, and I’m running for the position of Events Coordinator for our Polish society. I’m eager to bring fresh ideas, energy, and creativity to the role, and I’m confident I have the passion and organisational skills to make our events engaging.

While I am a first year student at UCL, I’ve always been passionate about events orgnisation and leadership in my previous schools and communities. My goal is to create a diverse calendar of events that appeal to a wide range of interests and encourage students from all backgrounds to come together. Together with the Team, my priority would be to set up events such as themed socials, casual meetups, and possibly partnerships with other Polish societies in London, as a part of PolSoc London. I know that no event is a success without a strong team behind it, so I’ll be committed to working closely with the committee and all members of our society to ensure that our events run smoothly. Whether it’s planning whole events, gathering ideas, distributing tasks, or providing support where needed, I'd be happy to get involved! Ultimately, this role is about society members, so as your Events Coordinator I'd love to hear your ideas and feedback about what we can do as a society. If elected, I promise to bring a strong work ethic, and a commitment to creating unforgettable experiences for everyone.

I’d love the opportunity to serve as your Events Coordinator!

Julius Urbonas

Cześć, nazywam się Julius!

I like simplicity, so I'll make my case simple:

1. SOFT SKILLS: Working as an events manager for organizations in Lithuania and the UK, I have hosted upwards of 50 different social events, through which I learned what it takes to organize an interesting and creative one. I am keen to further expand this experience with Polish Society and organize events that attract greater audiences and represent the Polish ideals and culture as creatively and accessibly as possible.
2. HARD SKILLS: I have extensive experience in writing event proposals (for one of which I was awarded a NATO co-sponsorship grant) and preparing other necessary reports and documents, which I would be keen to use facilitatively not only in planning events, but also in helping other committee members with their duties.
3. PASSION: Inspired by the interest and love for Polish culture and history I gained during my studies at UCL SSEES, I would dedicate most of my time for organizing events that embrace the spirit of Poland through anything from music and dance to films and cuisine.

To put it shortly - I apply for this position confident in what I can, knowing what I want to learn and what I can teach my fellow committee members, and, most importantly, ready to give my all with the very first events I plan for Polish Society - there's a reason why Pope John Paul II said "Przyszłość zaczyna się dzisiaj, nie jutro."

If you have any more questions, feel free to text me anytime.

Miłego dnia!

As a proud member of the Polish society, I would like to further my involvement in establishing a warm and friendly community.

Having previous experience of organising many events in student communities previous to university including arts and crafts activities, games nights and beginner language lessons, I believe I am a suitable candidate for the role of Events Coordinator. Passionate about my culture and traditions, I want to include and plan more cultural and community based activies like celebrating Andrzejki, Smingus Dyngus as well as the yearly Christmas and Easter dinners. Diversifying the range of events would be a great way not only to engage current society members but also other UCL students to learn more about our society, Poland and the culture. For example arranging film nights and visiting galleries or museums exhibiting Polish artworks or historical exhibitions as a way to support the local community even further. Also I would take the initiative to invite guest speakers to discuss history, folk lore and politics to further enrich the members' understanding of Polish culture.

By organising these events, I aim to create a a welcoming welcoming environment where people can come together. am eager to support the growth and development of the society and I am excited about the possibility of contributing to the Polish society and helping to build a strong, supportive and inclusive community at UCL.
