Hey! I'm Tash! I'm half Indian and half British and I grew up in London. I love art and going out in London. I've always liked to make friends with a diverse range of people, and people who are like me and don't just have one place they call home. I want to get people excited about Multicultural society and have loads more people at the social events! I have lots of fun ideas for more events for the society, but you'll have to vote for me to find out what they are! I'm looking forward to meeting you all at the next Multicultural society event :)

Hi there!

My name is Ratan, an MSc student in Child and Adolescent Mental Health.

I am excited to run for Events Manager in UCL's Multicultural Society. As a third-culture student myself, born in the Philippines, raised in the UAE, and ethnically Indian, I am naturally passionate about celebrating diversity and inclusivity.

During my undergraduate degree, I realised that students like me struggled to fit in. Keen to drive change, I joined my previous university's Multicultural Society as Publicity Officer. We took a collaborative approach with members to gather feedback and co-create events. Our focus was on cultural celebrations, inclusivity, cost-friendly activities, and partnerships with underrepresented cultural and recreational societies allowing students across the university to network. This tripled our memberships and led to a nomination for a society award over 200 societies!

I hope to bring that same level of collaboration to UCL, with events like potlucks, picnics, wellbeing activities (painting, clay-sculpting, nature walks), foreign-film nights, alongside some new ideas like leveraging the incredible events ongoing in London through external collaborations. I believe transparency and openness between members and the committee are essential, and I plan to continue prioritising member feedback to ensure that your experiences with MCS are fun, inclusive, and representative of your cultures.

Together, let’s make UCL’s Multicultural Society a space where everyone belongs!
