Election post
I’m standing for the gear secretary role as I believe the role to be how I can best apply my strengths and skills to have the most positive impact on the Muay Thai society and members.
For once I’m confident doing chemistry in my undergraduate degree actually gave me some useful skills that are very transferasble to this role. Having to research into and organise the chemicals, safety equipment and precautions required every other day when I’d step into the laboratory, have greatly developed my preparation and organisation skills. Although I’ll now be dealing with gloves instead of flasks, shin pads instead of acids, the core principal of making sure to have the correct and necessary equipment before the session, and indexing to make sure the equipment gets returned after the session remain the same.
Furthermore, starting this year not having my own shin pads, I know personally how vital the equipment the society provides is. And I’d love to do my part and help the society in streamlining this even more. Making sure those without equipment can still enjoy this passion, organising the replacement of worn out ones with new/newer ones, such as how some of the shin pads Velcro straps no longer function.
From making sure we have the correct amount of pads, gloves and shin pads for the sessions, ensuring they get returned to aiding the treasurer in budgeting if required. I know I’ll be of use and give my all.
