I am standing for Bar Careers Officer because, as an aspiring barrister from a state school background with no initial legal connections, I understand how challenging it can be to navigate this profession without an established network. I know first-hand how essential guidance, support, and opportunities are for those from non-traditional backgrounds.
Having attended law events and networked with practising barristers, I have gained insight into what the profession values in aspiring candidates and how to present oneself effectively. I am confident in reaching out to the Inns of Court and other legal bodies, and I am committed to connecting students with valuable resources that can genuinely aid their journeys to the Bar.
In this role, I aim to organise skill-building events and competitions that not only help sharpen practical advocacy and legal research skills but also offer networking and exposure opportunities for students. I want to create a supportive environment where everyone feels equipped and inspired to pursue their aspirations, regardless of their starting point.
Alongside professional development, I’d like to organise social events where aspiring barristers can gather, share ambitions, and discuss challenges. These informal gatherings would offer a relaxed space to connect, learn from one another, and build support networks, fostering a sense of community and encouragement as we navigate the journey to the Bar together.
