Why should I be your Social Secretary?
To begin with, I have had experience in the past of organising historical events, and have invited well-known historical authors to, for example, school events. More than that however, I have an interest in fostering positive relationships with people in publishing, academia, and the broader literary world. My priority for this society would be to organise events that are widely publicised throughout the University and that attract a broader audience, beyond just the history society. There are many wonderful writers out there, and I would love to bring them to this society and to UCL more broadly. My position as Social Secretary for the History Society would bring eminent authors to students. There is no reason why students that are passionate about writing, history, and the world should not have access to the best of the broader literary world! It is incumbent on us, as students, to nurture and contribute to this too; I would ensure that nobody would feel left out; I would ensure everyone would feel listened to; and I would embrace the glorious ideas that everybody here at UCL possesses.
Hey there! My name is Danilo and I am running to be your Social Secretary.
I have been the interim History Society Social Secretary for the past 5 months and in that time I have helped a lot with the running of the society and run several fun events, such as the Horrible Histories Screening, our Tote Bag Decorating session, our Kahoot socials and our LGBTQ+ History SpeedFriending, and have helped with others.
If elected I hope to continue running many fun events where members can engage in history related activities but more importantly make new friends and have fun, as that is the most important thing! I am on the committee of other societies and networks and this will help with organising more collaborations with History Society. Additionally, I am a very welcoming and friendly person and I always ensure that events are accessible and enjoyable.
Please do not hesitate to email me if you have any questions at all! :)
