Sami Vieru

Hello everyone! My name is Sami, or 14vim on discord, and I'm standing on business for Outreach Officer because I genuinely believe I can help our society grow by creating exciting collaborations and unique opportunities for all of us.

I see gaming as much more than a hobby – it’s a powerful way to connect people, share experiences, and learn from one another.

I believe my communication skills and proactive approach would make me an effective Outreach Officer. I’m someone who’s comfortable reaching out and forming connections, and I’m dedicated to presenting UCL Gaming Society as a collaborative, vibrant community that other organizations would want to work with. With experience in event organization and networking, I’m ready to jump into this role and start building partnerships that benefit us all.

I’m excited to work with all of you to take our society to the next level. Thank you for your consideration, and I hope to earn your support for this position!

I am an ideal candidate for the role of Outreach Officer due to my hands-on experience in outreach, partnership development, and my active involvement within the society itself. Through working with fashion companies, I gained valuable experience contacting brands for collaborations, managing negotiations, and building long-term relationships. I’ve also worked with charities, organising joint initiatives and sponsorships, where I tailored outreach efforts to meet the goals of each organisation.

Additionally, I’ve coordinated with companies for school-leaver hoodie orders, handling everything from initial contact to fulfilment. This experience sharpened my organisational and communication skills, ensuring projects were completed efficiently and successfully.

As a current active member of the Gaming Society, I have further honed my skills by participating in weekly events and assisting other members with any questions they have. As a community helper, I already have experience supporting the society’s goals by promoting engagement, answering queries, and creating a welcoming environment for new members. These experiences give me a strong understanding of the society’s needs and how to connect it with external opportunities.

My passion for gaming, combined with my outreach experience and active role within the society, makes me confident in my ability to establish meaningful collaborations, negotiate valuable partnerships, and support the society’s continued growth.

My motivation for running for the Outreach Officer position is my genuine excitement about the opportunity to support the growth of the UCL Gaming Society by forming key partnerships with brands that many of our members already know and love. I've previously worked on projects where I actively engaged in connecting with businesses and fostering relationships—skills that I believe would be a perfect fit for this position.

It goes without saying that I have a strong enthusiasm for gaming, especially the sense of community it fosters. By reaching out to organisations that share our society's interests, I hope that I can bridge the gap between our society and the larger gaming industry. I think we can give members some amazing opportunities through these collaborations; for instance, special events and giveaways would be fantastic.

I am ready to put in the effort it takes to establish these connections. It's important to me that we can expand our presence as a gaming community while likewise creating value for everyone in the society. I only wish to enhance what we already have with unique and memorable experiences through partners who's goals align with our own. I would love a chance to help our community by developing innovative new ways for us to share and enjoy our passion for gaming.

Imagine a high school project with foam aircraft models and an ambitious idea of making them assemble like Power Rangers into a floating hospital. Sounds crazy, right? You’d think there’s no way a DIY project like that could get past the school corridors.

Except, I made it happen. By reaching out everywhere I could, I secured a place for this project at a major national technology fair, presenting it alongside industry giants. Winning a prize, our project caught the attention of the city’s mayor, leading to extra funding for my school.

Why am I telling you this? This experience taught me resilience, outreach skills, and creative problem-solving. As your Outreach Officer, I believe I can bring that same persistence and creativity to help potential partners notice us—and bring unique perks to our members.

As an Outreach Officer, I will aim to:

  • Secure exclusive offers on gaming hardware and accessories so members can access quality equipment at a discount.
  • Explore opportunities to collaborate with Esports teams, giving our society connections to the competitive gaming scene in the UK and beyond.
  • Host events with gaming and Esports personalities, creating chances to hear directly from the experts and streamers who inspire our community.

Thank you for considering me for this role. Achieving these goals will be challenging, but I’m ready to put in the effort and try my hardest to make them happen.

See you around!
Jane

I am excited to apply for the Outreach Officer position with UCL Gaming Society. As the current Valorant Admin, I’ve had the privilege of working closely with our amazing members, witnessing firsthand the unique sense of community and excitement that gaming brings to our society. This role has been incredibly rewarding, and I am eager to contribute on a broader scale by building partnerships and enhancing our connections with the larger gaming and technology community.

Through this, I have also gained experience in organising and managing events, fostering a welcoming atmosphere, and coordinating with the committee to create a dynamic and inclusive environment. Beyond UCLG internal events, I also have previous experience reaching out to companies to secure sponsorships and support for large charity events with over 200 participants. I understand the importance of clear communication, presenting our society’s vision effectively, and building lasting, mutually beneficial relationships with external organisations.

I am passionate about giving back to the community that has given me so much and am excited about the prospect of driving UCL Gaming Society’s outreach efforts. Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to contributing to the continued growth and success of our community.
