Sienna Wang

Hi, my name is Sienna, and I am standing to be the Marketing Officer for Film Society! I am currently in my second year of studying Pharmacy. For 2 years, I was the marketing director for my high school's student council, which involved plenty of time and focus on developing my Canva abilities. On top of that, being a marketing director required strong organizational skills to be able to post and send out weekly announcements on schedule consistently. I was very enthusiastic about my job as I took it as an opportunity to channel my artistic side and also to be someone that people could talk to if they were particularly curious about an event coming up. If elected, I would love to play around with the already-imaginative theme of Film Soc's Instagram and include my own creative twist to keep it on-brand and aesthetic. I hope my passion for film and friendly personality encourage others to communicate with me about any questions or concerns they may have about the society. I am running because UCL's Film Society deserves even greater recognition and student engagement, both online and in person.

When starting at UCL, I wanted to be involved in drama again, but also try something new. I applied to be on the marketing team of the Bloomsbury Studio show A Little Tragedy. It was an amazing experience getting to share the play's story from a different point of view, and connect with cast and crew to build a campaign.

Since then, I've been on the marketing team for The Welkin, Head of Marketing for the Filmsoc affiliate film A Man's Tide, and joined the BTS team for the Term 3 Film Last Light's Out. If you've seen me around, it's likely with my camera (and an iced coffee)!

All these experiences have given me a love for the marketing process, which is essentially storytelling in a different form. Managing social media may seem like a straightforward task, but it's the chance to share the opportunities and stories that the Film and TV society has to offer. I would love to continue doing that this year <3

(It's also an excuse to take more pictures at events, which I really love to do.)

Being apart of Filmsoc was one of the main reasons I chose to come to UCL, as it's one of the biggest film societies in the country, and one of the only ones that focuses on the actual production of films. I've met the most amazing people at socials, and had the chance to learn so much more than expected. Joining the committee would just mean getting to be more involved in a society I love, and chance to promote it to other people who might love it too!

And I love films, that's a given :))
