Afreeda Rahman

My name is Afreeda, I am a second-year chemical engineering student and as a passionate and dedicated member of this society, I am excited to put myself forward for the role of engineering projects executive.

I have previously been on the team as a first year representative which has given me valuable insights on the society's strengths and areas for growth. If elected, I will bring this knowledge forward to drive impactful projects that elevate our society and create a fulfilling experience for all members.

One of my primary goals is to ensure our society provides engaging and hands-on learning experiences to support our studies and put them into real-world context.
I aim to expand our project opportunities to more hands-on workshops and technical projects as well as collaborating with industry to bring in guest speakers and organising industry trips.

I aim to ensure projects stay on task by implementing clear timelines, goals, and checkpoints to make sure our projects are delivered on time and up to high standards and optimise resource allocation to provide as many enriching events as possible.

With your support, I am ready to leverage my experience and vision to make a meaningful impact as your Engineering Project Executive. Let’s build on our past successes and drive our society towards new achievements together.

Thank you for considering me as your Engineering Project Executive. Let’s work to make our Engineering Society a space of growth, learning, and innovation for all!

Basit Adeogun

I am running for projects executive as I have a keen interest in developing the connections of engineering society in order to provide the best possible experience for its members. I have experience in hosting a wide range of events as I was president of the chemical engineering Ramsay Society last year where I organised numerous successful events with external companies. I hope to bring my experience to the engineering society team and I look forward to working with everyone. I am an active member of engineering society and have attended many events this year such as the careers fair and games night. As the biggest STEM society in UCL, I am excited to work with the numerous sponsors Engsoc has and I am confident that I will be able to ensure the smooth running of all future projects. Personally, I have strong connections with many members of the engineering society already (particularly in the projects team) so I am sure that I will integrate smoothly in to the team and work well with everyone to ensure that this year is a success.

Ishita Gupta

I am running for the role of Engineering Projects Executive because I believe my interests and passions lie in harmony with the objectives of the UCL Engineering Society.
UCL is educating the next wave of innovative thinkers, groundbreaking researchers, Nobel laureates, and visionary scientists who possess the skills to transform our world. As the Engineering Projects Executive, my leadership philosophy will be concerned with empowering future leaders through mentorship, collaboration, and healthy competition while emphasizing transparency, teamwork and sustainability.

In previous years, I was the Public Relations Officer for Project Concordia, a student initiative focused on highlighting gender disparities in the workplace, in homes and in schools. We collaborated with students from Florida, Mumbai and Singapore and conducted interviews with various working-class individuals. Our findings were showcased on a four-part documentary series called Understanding Connections. I believe that my experience in leading projects and executing them successfully is what makes me a worthy candidate for this position.

Finally, I am running because I want to be a catalyst for innovation and I want to help my peers forge a path into their dream careers. I know the challenges and responsibilities of the role and I am ready to take them on with integrity, initiative and a relentless pursuit of excellence.

Diego Izquierdo Gonzalez

Hello! I'm Diego, and I'm a third year Chemical Engineering student.

The Engineering Society is the largest STEM society at UCL and it shapes the experiences of students from all disciplines across the faculty. I am truly passionate about our society's mission to promote learning and collaboration, and as Projects Executive I would use my experience and skills to make the Eng Soc projects become some of the highlights of the year.

One of my main goals is strengthening our relationships with other departmental societies, ensuring that our projects serve as platforms for interdisciplinary learning and real-world applications. I am committed to organising events that provide value to all our members, regardless of their background or career ambitions. To promote an inclusive environment, I aim to make sure that everyone's voice is heard and that our projects reflect the diverse perspectives within the faculty. By creating collaborative experiences across all disciplines, we can encourage innovative thinking and create a close-knit community.

I trust that at Eng Soc we can positively shape the future of engineering at UCL.

Thank you for your consideration!

Ronaldo Baker

Hey everyone! My name is Ronaldo and I’m nominating myself for the position of Engineering Projects Executive because I have a strong passion for working with and supporting others to develop their skills for the future. In my experience as a mentor and teacher for students in the STEM sphere, I have developed the skills necessary to find, develop and deliver challenging projects that encourage people to think outside the box and, consequently, better their understanding in a topic. This includes my previous role as the Fleming Society Vice President where I oversaw Project X, an award-winning programme, that taught basic electronics to students from a local 6th form, which proved successful from the increased interest in electronics and engineering.

I believe that, as Engineering Projects Executive, I can help bridge the gap between theoretical learning and real-world applications by organising projects that allow members to explore different engineering fields. Additionally, with my recent experience as a software engineer intern, I hope to bring the knowledge I learnt about standard industry practices and expectations into future projects.

I am eager to bring my technical and interpersonal skills to this role, and I look forward to the opportunity to deliver impactful projects that not only provides a challenge but promotes collaboration amongst members of different backgrounds for a shared goal of personal and career growth.

Thank you!

Sihas Jayasuriya

Hello! I'm Sihas. I'm a second year chemical engineering student working as a transition mentor. I would like to nominate myself as the Engineering Society's Projects Executive, given my interest in projects that make positive change, and my motive.

In terms of experience, I am currently working with the urban farming society to carry out a complete renovation on the greenhouse, installing a drip irrigation system, and managing the artificial pond. I have also applied to be the Urban Farmers Society's Projects Executive as it would allow me to experience another field that is interesting to me, Built Environment. This opportunity will not only broaden my experience, but lets me collaborate with other students for a positive change.

My time as a transition mentor has taught me the value of time management and preparation. This extends to my future projects as I will have to delegate tasks, prepare and present ideas, and conduct meetings. I hope to use the skills I've learnt through this experience.

As Projects Executive, I hope to bring fresh new ideas for future projects, while focusing on sustainability. The opportunity and the experience would help me further my career towards the process industry. I am looking forward to contributing to the Engineering Society in the best way I can!

Solace Ikumapayi

I am excited to stand for the Engineering Projects Executive role in the UCL Engineering Society. My experiences in project management and team leadership have equipped me with the skills necessary to contribute effectively.

A significant experience was completing a project in Fiji, where I developed cyclone-proof greenhouses for local communities. This hands-on project honed my technical skills and deepened my understanding of engineering’s role in addressing real-world challenges, teaching me the value of adaptability and cultural sensitivity. During my bachelor's, I led multiple engineering projects, coordinating teams to develop impactful solutions. This reinforced my belief in effective communication, strategic planning, and collaboration—skills I aim to bring to this role.

I am eager to enhance our society’s project initiatives, making them more accessible and inclusive for all members. I am committed to fostering an environment where every member feels encouraged to contribute ideas and skills. Collaboration is key to successful engineering projects, so I intend to build strong relationships with industry partners and alumni, creating networking and mentorship opportunities that can elevate our projects. Together, we can drive forward innovative projects that reflect our values as engineers.

I would be honoured to serve as the Engineering Projects Executive and help shape the future of our society. Thank you for considering my nomination.
