I would like to stand to become First Year Rep for DRRH in order to delve further into the society to create change for the better. I hope to achieve this by voicing  the desires, ideas, and concerns of First Years ensuring they feel heard and included. As a First Year Representative for Global Humanitarian Studies, aspiring a career in this field (DRRH) I feel that I will be able to transfer these skills in order to help influence the direction and activities of the society in a way that makes a positive difference for first-years!

As a Biomedical Student, I never expected to join the DRRH Society, but after attending a few taster sessions, meeting so many passionate people and learning more about the society’s goals, I fell in love with it.

I want to contribute as much as I can towards DRRH Society which is why I am running for the position of First Year Representative. As an extrovert, I’ll be a friendly face other First Years can easily approach. However, I am also organised and reliable and here to listen to any concerns that First Years may have. Although it has been a few weeks since University started, settling in and contributing to this society is a process that might overwhelm some. If I am elected, I will do my best to alleviate these worries.

I also want to introduce this society to students who are not studying a related degree - like myself! DRRH is a society that welcomes anyone passionate about humanitarianism and my goal is to introduce it to as many First Years as possible! Through the talks and social events I have attended, I felt deeply moved by this cause and I hope to share that feeling with others.

I’m running for First-Year Representative for the Disaster Risk and Reduction Society because I believe it's important for first-year students to have a voice and be involved in discussions around disaster risk reduction. With so many global challenges—like climate change and growing global risks—it's a great time to get involved and learn more about how we can make a difference, and I want to help make that possible for all of us starting out

As first-year students, we’re all new to the field, and I want to make sure we have the support and opportunities to learn and engage with the society’s work. If elected, I’ll focus on making sure our voices are heard and that first-year students feel included in the society's events and activities. Whether it’s helping organize workshops, discussions, or outreach programs, I’ll work to bring valuable learning experiences and make sure everyone has a chance to contribute.

I’m also looking forward to developing my leadership and communication skills while representing my peers. I want to create an environment where we can all work together to raise awareness about disaster risk reduction, while also having a great time and building a strong community within the society.

Ultimately, my goal is to help first-year students feel connected, informed, and empowered to make a difference in disaster risk and reduction efforts.

Thank you for considering me for this role. I’d love the opportunity to represent you and work with all of you to make this year a great start to our
