Standing for captain is a big deal for me! A captain sets the tone for the squad, having a positive attitud and building team spirit is vital to the role. Cheer has been a huge part of my life for almost 10 years and I want to be able to share my experiences to newcomers. Over the years, I’ve developed leadership skills that I believe would make me a strong captain. Having spent many seasons as Senior Captain I understand the qualities needed to lead a team: commitment, communication and enthusiasm. Creating a supportive environment is crucial to motivation and improvement. One of my biggest goals as captain would be to foster a strong sense of team unity. I want everyone on this squad to feel valued, supported, and motivated to do their best. I know that everyone has something unique to bring, and I’m excited to help us grow and improve together.
Hi Bolt, I'm Danielle and I would love to be your Team Captain this year! This is my final year of university cheer and joining Lightning three years ago was one of the best decisions I've made during my time here at UCL. I've not only fallen in love with the sport but I've met some of the best people on these teams. I'm super proud of the progress we've made on Bolt so far and would be honoured to continue harnessing our team spirit as your captain.
Over the years, I've developed some skills necessary to be a good captain. Whilst studying abroad last year, I coached new cheerleaders and boosted team morale in preparation for our final showcase (which was a success!). I've also had team captain roles, like being Secretary-General for Model United Nations, so I'm experienced in making the decisions and dealing with the back-end admin necessary for a smooth competition season. Having been on Bolt two years ago, I'm also familiar with how the season unfolds so I can help anticipate challenges and guide the team through them.
Beyond my experience, I'm always around as a friendly face for anyone to share ideas and concerns with. Bolt is already so cohesive as a team and I can't wait to (hopefully!) organise more opportunities for us to bond through team socials.
Lightning love,
Danielle 💜⚡
Hi I’m Victoire ! As a fourth-year student (starting to feel old) in my third year with UCL Lightning, cheer has become an essential part of my university journey. This experience has given me a deep understanding of our team’s values, spirit, and what it takes to succeed together (and most importantly to have fun). I’m also part of the L3 all-girls stunt group, which reflects my dedication to cheer, and commitment to continuously improving and giving my best for Bolt.
If chosen as captain, I would prioritize fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment, ensuring that everyone feels like a valued member and to strengthen our team’s bond both on and off the mat—especially since it’s been through Bolt that I’ve met some of my closest friends at uni!
I know that balancing cheer with our fast-paced, busy university lives can be challenging at times. I will do my best to make sure everyone’s needs are met, creating an environment where we all feel supported and understood, even during the busiest weeks.
With experience balancing training and responsibilities, I am organized and dependable, and would take seriously the task of tracking attendance, communicating effectively with coaches and committee, and keeping everyone in the loop. I believe I can lead by example, bringing the enthusiasm, dedication, and care that Bolt deserves.
Thank you for considering me for captain—I’m excited about the chance to support you all and make this another amazing season!

Hi everyone!
I'm nominating myself for Bolt Captain this year as cheer has been an integral part of my UCL life and this is my final year! For those who don't know, this is my third year in Bolt and I would love nothing more than to give back to UCL Lightning and Bolt for how wonderful my time has been over the past few years. All of my friends were surprised I tried out cheerleading in first year but I just knew I'd love it and I really want to make sure that everyone on Bolt this year has as good a time as I have had!
I view myself as a pretty friendly person (read: chronic yapper) and I definitely have more than enough confidence in myself to support this team through the next few months and carry out all the logistical necessities. I am very organised (I always love showing how convoluted my calendar is) and am familiar with leadership positions (Museum Soc Treasurer/ Events Officer and my senior school's Head of Navy) and am prepared to commit my time towards ensuring Bolt is run beautifully and a great team for all our members!
I hope this was enough to demonstrate my long-term commitment to UCL Lightning and also how much I've enjoyed my time here! Voting me for captain means you're guaranteed to have someone who will support you 💜💜
Hello everyone! I’m Yi, and I am so excited to be running for your captain! Joining Bolt has brought me so much joy, especially in getting to know each of you and exploring new stunts together. I’m passionate about the captain role to inspire and support our team, and I believe I have the dedication, energy and teamwork skills developed through my years in competitive cheer and as a choreographer. As your captain, my top priority would be to create a fun and open environment where everyone feels comfortable and valued. I’m excited to organise team socials like dinners and picnics that will bond and encourage our team spirit! During practices, I will motivate every member and create a collaborative atmosphere where we can all learn and grow together. I pride myself on being approachable and communicative, so I hope I can be there for anyone who needs support or has any concerns. I believe your thoughts are important and want to ensure everyone feels heard and included!
Thank you for considering me as your captain! - I can’t wait to make lifelong memories with all of you! <3
University cheerleading has been in my life for four years now and I’ve always felt a sense of belonging in this sport.
My aim is to make sure everyone in the team to have the same sense of belonging by doing the following:
- Chill socials to get to know each other and bond
- Spreading positivity throughout the team
- Make you feel supported through tough times and happy times
- Be at your disposition at any time for any reason
- Be transparent with the team and coaches to ensure clear communication
With all of this in mind, I trust that having a team bond helps with connection and therefore be the best team one has to offer, and give you the cheer experience you deserve!
Xoxo, Ellie (Eleonore)
