Hello my dearest friends. Recently there’s been talk of UCL powerlifting falling off. Having lost some of our strongest ever members over the last couple years, you can hear whispering across the streets of London of “washed”, “finished” and “it’s so over”. I’m here to tell you that we are so back. We lost to Kings at Varsity last year (one uni was taking it A LOT more seriously than the other 🫣🤷♂️ ) but I promise you that ain’t happening under me as captain.
Things I promise to to work on as captain:
- Making sure this club is inclusive and everyone of all abilities feels welcome
- Running and organising great varsity and novice competitions and helping individuals with questions and worries about competing
- Fixing the welfare officer’s breath (no guarantees tbh)
Picture the scene: you’ve walked into Bloomsbury fitness. You see a full set of calibrated plates, two power bars, people in groups talking and laughing, Emma warming up for squats when you start and doing her top set when you leave and you can smell Sayem’s breath even though I’ve slipped him chewing gum. This is a loving community with people meeting best friends here, maybe even a little more 😉 🥰 (treasurer isn’t just good with money he’s also a smooth operator). I want to help to nurture this community and keep it thriving for next year.
Lemme cook for this club as it once cooked for me. Thank you 🙏
