Arab and North African Society: Media Rep

I believe that I’d be a valuable fit for this role as I share a strong passion for creating media content, having always studied subjects that allow me to express my creativity. During Media A-Level, I was able to create a magazine for my coursework, which I enjoyed taking photos for and editing. Consequently, I’d be honoured to invest my time in editing the social media of my own culture’s society. In these two years, I gained experience editing on Canva, which allowed me to experiment with different styles and colour schemes.
Having looked at the society’s Instagram page, I really find the layout aesthetically pleasing and would like to be a part of enhancing this by adding my own personal touches. The digital camera effect is one that resonates well with my love for photography, as I myself own a digital camera and frequently use it to create fun memories with friends and family. I also use these pictures in my scrapbooking, in which I print out pictures and arrange them decoratively on a page, as a favourite hobby of mine.
The vibrance of Arab and North African culture is a key theme that has found itself intertwined with my photo editing, as incorporating a part of myself has always been important to me. The inclusion of the culture is especially significant on the Instagram page as this can inspire non-Arabs to learn more about the culture. 
I hope that this role allows me to continue that, and I cannot wait to share my passion with future members of the society!

I strongly believe that as Media Representative for Arab and North African Society I will propel our media presence to a whole new level and ensure that our society creates engaging and relevant content to showcase our cultural significance. 

I'm passionate about sharing stories, building connections, and representing different Arab and North African cultures in a way that is creative and impactful. As Media Representative, I'll bring my energy for connecting people and celebrating our heritage to each post, event, story and feature. 

I will strive to create a sense of unity and belonging, aiming for members to look at the society's social media and feel proud of their heritage and excited to engage in different events. I will highlight Arab and North African culture, history and achievements as Media Representative, not just for society members but for the broader university community. This will foster a wider understanding and appreciation for our society as a whole. 

As Media Representative, my vision is to make our online presence a place of unity, pride and cultural appreciation, showcasing the epitome of Arab and North African culture. I would also love to make our North African and Arab Society platform inclusive and interactive, encouraging members to share ideas potentially via polls and story questions targeted to our audience. 

In summary, I will uphold our society’s cultural values in our content and showcase the beauty of Arabic diversity. 

I am standing to run for social media rep of ArabSoc as I think it is so important to use one of our generation’s greatest tools (social media) to share aspects of Arab and NA culture and also encourage others to join our society and take part. I currently am the social media officer for Iranian society and use TikTok primarily to share content and expand our society. I would like to use my creativity and current trends to do the same for ArabNA society and believe I have a wide range of unique and interesting ideas to bring to the table! Arab and NA pop culture is so vast and entertaining that this should be shared with non-Arabs too and this is what I hope to bring to the committee!! 

I'm standing on business. I personally think that social media content, especially on TikTok, can be improved and I'm here to help with that. As someone who uses TikTok more than I should, I believe that I would be an asset to put UCL Arab and NA Soc on the map as the best society amongst all the other uni's. Especially KCL. So, Vote for me and don't be a zamel.
