As both President and former Treasurer of the Space Society, and future Chief Editor of UCL Science Magazine, I have had the great privilege of spearheading a transformation within the society and beyond. This year the Space Society has experienced unprecedented growth and success. Despite the challenges of a small committee, we have managed to more than quadruple the number of events, and seen exceptional membership and participation. This past year has truly been a landmark for our society, marked by a diverse range of events, from art to nerdy talks, and day-long conferences to observatory visits, all underlined by nothing but passion and enthusiasm for the community we've created.
My commitment to Space Soc runs deep; it is almost parental. This sentiment allows me to understand and appreciate the dedication and effort required by officers to nurture a society. I have seen firsthand their passion and commitment, and I recognize the invaluable contributions they make. As a member of the awards panel, I would be uniquely positioned to appreciate the hard work and zeal that goes into sustaining societies. With my experience and insight, I am confident in my ability to contribute to the panel and help select deserving winners.
I have dedicated myself wholeheartedly to fostering a vibrant and dynamic community within our university and I'm eager to be part of acknowledging and rewarding the exceptional talent and commitment of UCL's society officers.
As President of the English Society this year, I enjoyed a term full of challenges and a great sense of fulfillment.
I had a wonderful time expanding the English Society’s operation. During my time as president, I witnessed and nurtured the growth of EngSoc from being a relaxed society mainly focusing on socials to a more established departmental society well-connected to the English department, hosting regular workshops and networking events.
My experience as President enables me to understand what makes a society great for its members, and what challenges a society has to overcome to operate at its current level now. Therefore, I would make an astute judge on the Society Developmental Awards panel who can give societies the recognition they deserve. :)
