What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?
This year we would like to:
Increase the profile of the DSN and range of DSN events for disabled students, building our community on campus and online. We particularly want to increase connectivity between liberation networks and host more events for Disabled Women, Disabled LBTQ+ and Disabled BME students.
Educate the student body more widely on disability to foster an inclusive environment across the student community.
Expand on existing accessibility campaigns, to monitor and advise productive change at UCL, especially with the possible return to campus in the next academic year.
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?
We believe passionately that everyone deserves equal access to university. In this belief, we will work tirelessly to help improve accessibility at UCL and foster a vibrant DSN. Last year we were co-Disabled Student’s Officer and DSN social secretary. This previous experience taught us a great deal about the democratic processes at UCL and running events, which we hope to employ in the role this year. We are completely approachable to any ideas or arising issues, which we will use to focus our priorities as your representatives.
