Your Role

You will be a full time Sabbatical Officer of the Students’ Union working full time to provide leadership to the Students’ Union’s services; and representing the interests of students to UCL, including participating in UCL committees and regular meetings with senior staff.

 

You will lead the Union in making sure its activities are transparent and fair and that its services meet the needs of the student body.  You will also lead communications between the Union and students, act as lead student representative in the local community and help to champion the Union’s work on sustainability.

 

Your Responsibility

  • Represent the interests and needs of students to decision-making bodies within the university, the Union and beyond, including being a member of UCL Council
  • Shape how the Union presents itself to students and the public through its communications and media
  • Find creative ways to engage students with the Union
  • Be responsible for the Union’s affiliations
  • Be the lead officer for the Union’s strategic planning process
  • Chair the Union Executive, the democratic body responsible for ratifying and overseeing the implementation of all Union Policy
  • Be the lead Officer in making sure the Union is run fairly and democratically by students, for students
  • Be a Trustee of the Students’ Union and a member of the Students’ Union Leadership Team

Time Required For Role

This is a full time role over a 12.5 month period, from 1 July 2020 – 15 July 2021

35 hours per week plus a range of additional events

Salary: £25k (approx.)
