Tharsos is UCL’s sole provider of financial news, publishing a bi-weekly newsletter on the performance of commodities, currencies, equities and emerging markets. If you are interested in understanding market dynamics or you just want to enhance your commercial awareness and writing skills, this society will help you to gain the breadth of experience and skills necessary to achieve this goal.

As a member (analyst), you will join a community with a culture built on the premise of: supportiveness, accessibility and success. We do not believe in first year rep positions and we consider applications from all students regardless of their age or degree background (no quota!). Besides writing market reports, you will take part in market debates within your allocated sub-team, attend CV and mock interview clinics and you will have the opportunity to attend various interactive work shops aimed at boosting your market awareness.

We are proud to say that a large number of past members have secured spring, summer and graduate placements at a large number of firms. In the 2019/20 recruiting season, our members received a record number of spring/summer offers from firms including Lazard, Rothschild, Deutsche Bank, McKinsey, Bank of America, Citi, HSBC, PWC, Barclays and Evercore.

In June 2020, we began our next phase of growth by establishing the UCL M&A Group. The UCL M&A Group is an autonomous sub-division within our society, focussed on analysing and reporting recent M&A transactions. Within 4 days of creating the group, we gained 200+ followers on linkedin, signed a partnership with Mergersight (the largest inter-uni M&A club) and gained an overwhelmingly positive response within the UCL community.

Tharsos might be one of the youngest societies at UCL but we are one of the fastest moving and so we are looking for passionate, driven and committed individuals looking to gain hands on experience to take our group further as we strive towards becoming one of UCL's most prominent societies.
