You’re ready for your postgraduate degree – now it’s time to explore societies and networks!

Starting your postgraduate journey is a big step, and while academic success is important, so is finding balance and connection outside the classroom. One of the best ways to do this is by getting involved in a network.

We understand that postgraduate students come from a wide range of backgrounds. You might be studying part-time, returning to education later in life, managing caring responsibilities. Whatever your circumstances, we have a supporting community here on campus for postgraduate students.

Student networks are a great way to meet people with similar experiences or mindsets. Networks are communities based around shared identities or life situations, and postgraduates are welcome to join any or all of them. Here are a few that might feel especially relevant to you.

Research Students' Network

The UCL Research Students' Network represents the interests and needs of postgraduate research students on MPhil, PhD, and professional doctorate programmes across all disciplines. Their mission is to foster a vibrant and inclusive research community by providing a opportunity to meet new people, collaborate, and support one another. Throughout the academic year, they organise events and activities to help bring together research students from across multiple fields to build relationships and make their experience at UCL better.

Mature, Part-time & Carers Students’ Network

The Mature, Part-time & Carers Students’ Network represents everyone studying part-time at any level, students over 21 starting their undergraduate degree or a postgraduate course after the age of 25, and any continuing UCL student with caring responsibilities. This Network is open to all students, UK and International.

This network is a ready-made community for you to join when you come to UCL. Led by the Mature, Part-time & Carers Officer, they put on lots of socials and events so you can meet people very easily. This year, they even won the Network of the Year at the End of Year Awards!

They represent:

·  Mature students.  From people in their early 20's to late 70's. Everyone is welcome.

·  Part-time students.  For those combining studying with a job, career or other family responsibilities.

·  Parents.  With younger or older children, studying with juggling family life.

· Carers.  Students who are also having to care for a parent, family member or relative in addition to studying.

International Students' Network

The International Students' Network is your go-to for meeting international students at UCL - with a seriously vibrant and welcoming community, led by the International Students' Officer, it would be impossible not to make new friends from all over the globe! The network represents the interests of international students at UCL, and work together to put on cultural events on campus - meaning you can be part of all the celebrations while studying here.
