Danilo Paganelli

Danilo has made an unparalleled contribution to UCL Societies, serving on the committees of 25 societies and as President of 11, many of which he has run singlehandedly. He has delivered an incredible volume and variety of activity, often organising and hosting events every day of the week. From academic talks and guest speakers to welfare initiatives, socials, and large-scale Welcome Week programming, Danilo has created countless opportunities for students to connect and engage. He has also revived multiple dormant societies, founded several new ones, and worked tirelessly behind the scenes managing logistics, communications, and administration. Deeply committed to inclusion and student wellbeing, Danilo has supported students one-on-one, expanded provision for online and postgraduate students, and ensured wider representation across his societies.

Kata Mesterhazy

As President of the Diplomacy Society, Kata has been instrumental in transforming it into one of UCL’s most ambitious and impactful student communities. Her leadership has gone far beyond delivering events, she has created a welcoming and supportive environment where members feel a strong sense of belonging and are encouraged to grow both personally and professionally. She is highly present and approachable, consistently mentoring and supporting individuals, with many members gaining confidence and pursuing opportunities they may not have otherwise considered. Alongside this, Kata has delivered exceptional programming, including directing the London University Diplomacy Summit, securing high-profile speakers, launching a careers-focused branch, and integrating the Society into YIAPAD, a global diplomacy network, becoming one of the only two UK members.

Emma Greenwood

Emma has made an exceptional impact as President of the Disaster Risk Reduction and Humanitarianism Society, demonstrating outstanding leadership, dedication, and commitment to ensuring the society thrives academically and socially. Under her guidance, the society has developed, delivering a wide range of engaging events, socials, and volunteering opportunities that have strengthened its presence across the university. A standout achievement was organising a high-profile panel event featuring leaders from the humanitarian sector, including the former Director of Save the Children, giving students rare insight into real-world disaster response and leading to further opportunities for engagement. Her thoughtful approach to accessibility and her ability to build strong relationships across the university have created a truly inclusive and supportive community.

Aadi Rana

Aadi has become one with the Societies at UCL, dedicating countless hours to both organising and actively participating in a wide range of activities. He has served on multiple committees, including common interest societies, ArtsUCL groups, and a RUMS sports club. As Treasurer of Space Society, Aadi played a key role in doubling the society’s funds, supporting an ambitious events programme that delivered over 20 events this term while growing membership and improving participation through successful grant applications. His recent election as incoming Societies Officer is a testament to his commitment to ensuring student societies have a voice at UCL, making him a highly deserving recipient of this award.
