Have you got what it takes to represent UCL in next year's BBC University Challenge competition? Since 1964, students from across the UK have competed to be crowned University Challenge champions.

The legendary quiz, currently airing on BBC Two, pits two teams of four students from UK universities against each other in a battle of general knowledge. Each winning team progressing to the next round, until an overall series winner eventually emerges.


Dates for Selection Round 1 (you only need to attend one trial date)

  • Trial 1: Thursday 12 October, 18:15-20:00 – venue tbc (deadline to apply Tuesday 10 October, 12:00)
  • Trial 2: Tuesday 17 October, 18:15-20:00 – venue tbc (deadline to apply Monday 16 October, 10:00)
  • Trial 3: Thursday 19 October, 18:15-20:00 – on MS Teams (deadline to apply Tuesday 17 October, 12:00)

Team selection will take place in October and November this year, with filming for the show taking place in spring 2024. If the team makes it onto TV, those applying now will be on BBC 2 in late summer, early autumn 2024.

In 2021 and 2022, our team made it through all of the preliminary rounds and onto the televised show, and our 2022 UCL team made it all the way to the quarter-final! Our 2023 team were on TV in August. See who there are.
