New shuttle bus service is being piloted at UCL East this term

We’re excited to announce we are piloting a shuttle bus service at UCL East throughout this term.

The initiative gives both students and staff greater ease when travelling between One Pool Street and Stratford Station (Gibbins Road exit) by running Monday to Friday between the hours of 07:30 and 10:00 in the morning and 17:00 and 20:30 in the evening. The bus will run approximately every six minutes, creating a direct link and reliable service to and from the UCL East campus. You can track the bus and find the latest updates here.

We’re piloting the service after Sabbatical Officers consulted with students, who shared feedback that additional time is often needed to factor in the overall journey to UCL East from the station and back. This initiative means overall journey times are reduced, making it just that little bit easier.

The bus is completely free to use, wheelchair accessible, and electric. Just don’t forget your UCL ID. You’ll need to show it to the driver to prove you are a student or staff member.

Driven by students, for students

“Launching this service at the start of 2026 feels like a great step forward. Having a fully electric, accessible shuttle makes getting to UCL East easier and more inclusive for everyone. It’s also completely student-led; our drivers are students too, which makes it even more special. I’m really proud that we’ve been able to respond directly to what students asked for and help improve the day-to-day UCL experience at East.”

Eda Yildirimkaya, your Equity and Inclusion Officer

“ We’re excited to pilot the electric shuttle bus service at UCL East, which is now running in tandem with traditional bus services, meaning we are increasing access to transport exclusively for the UCL community. It’s free to use, zero emissions, and an important step in making travel to and from campus more sustainable and accessible for students and staff. We hope you’ll get on board and give the service a go.”

The pilot scheme is funded by the UCL Estates team in collaboration with the Students’ Union, the London Legacy Development Corporation, and the London Borough of Newham.
