Meet David, your newly elected UCL East Officer. David is ready to make a difference and help make student life at UCL East the best it can be. We caught up with David to learn more about him, what he's most excited about in his new role and a few fun facts along the way!
Welcome to the role! Tell us a bit about yourself.
Hi, my name is David! I'm a first-year UCL student and your newly elected UCL East Officer. I also run my own hair business called Crèlace Hair. I love being proactive, getting involved and playing sports.
If you had to describe UCL East in three words, what would they be?
Modern, welcoming and spacious!
What's one thing about UCL East that you think everyone should know?
One thing everyone should know about UCL East is that it's just as good as it looks on TikTok!
You're representing students across UCL East. What's the most exciting part of that responsibility for you?
The most exciting part of this role is being the voice of students. I'm looking forward to making a positive difference at UCL East and helping to make university life as enjoyable as possible for everyone.
What's one area where you think UCL East students could use a little extra support?
One area I think UCL east students could use a little extra support is knowing the support and opportunities available at UCL to benefit them.
Who would be your dream dinner guests?
My dream dinner guests would be Tems, Rihanna, Michael Jackson and Oprah Winfrey.
What's your favourite film?
My favourite film is Black Panther.
What would surprise people to know about you?
A fun fact about me that might surprise people is that I'm a male business owner in the beauty industry!
What advice would you give your younger self?
The advice I'd give my younger self is that the more difficult your path, the higher your calling.
Growing up, I was never the 'smartest' or brightest child, but God had different plans for me. There were so many ways I could have gone down the wrong path, but I trusted in His plan!
What's the best way for students to connect with you and share their views?
I'm on campus five days a week, so the best way to connect with me is to come and say hello! I'm always approachable and happy to chat.
