Academic Reps do one of the most important jobs in the Union: They ensure students have a voice in enhancing their education.

Each month, we’re featuring your reps and the work they’re doing to improve UCL. If you have an idea about improving your course, your department, or UCL, you can contact your Academic Rep using our 'Find Your Rep page'.

Academic Rep of the Month: Rebecca Askins-Gast

Rebecca has been an excellent part of the Academic Rep community and her peers wanted to make sure she gets the recognition she deserves.

Rebecca has been particularly great at helping her peers get involved in not just learning but teaching each other through peer-led knowledge exchange programmes.

Thank you for all of your hard work, Rebecca!

Here's a quick word from Rebecca:

I am currently pursuing an MSc in Conservation, while on sabbatical from my role as an Associate Banker with the sustainable infrastructure group at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.  I focus on the energy transition and development of the renewable energy sector in Central Asia and the Caucasus, and I am interested in human-wildlife interactions, multi-species dynamics, small mammals, and birds of prey. I am enthusiastic about my role as student rep for the MSc Conservation programme and developed a student-led seminar series to support my cohort in a peer-led knowledge exchange and skill-sharing. In my free time, she loves running, climbing, woodworking, and sewing.
