Welcome to VegSoc!
Whether it’s the ethical, environmental, health, or religious aspects of a plant-based diet that have brought you to our doorstep, all individuals are welcomed with open arms. The aim of VegSoc is to provide our members with an open-minded space to engage in non-judgemental discussions and increase their knowledge of topics such as plant-based food, sustainability, and animal ethics (to name just a few!). Tolerance and compassion run deep within our society, and manifest in everything that we do.
Becoming involved in issues surrounding veganism and vegetarianism can be tough; not only is exploring the truth behind the animal agriculture industry extremely distressing, but it is also not uncommon that going against the grain of society can result in some backlash, sometimes even from our closest family and friends. Not only does VegSoc provide a source of engaging education and involvement in the plant-based community, but it also offers a form of mentorship and support since many of us have faced similar challenges.
Some of the activities we have planned this year include:
- Online and in-person talks (eg about vegan lifestyle, use of animal products in the clothing industry)
- Discussion evenings
- Movie nights
- Pub visits
- Pumpkin carving + a halloween themed event
- Volunteering
- Inter-uni events with Veg Soc from other London unis
FOR THE FIRST TERM, ALL REMOTE MEMBERSHIPS WILL GET YOU ACCESS TO EVERY IN-PERSON EVENT TOO
