What's a cross-university hackathon?
We are collaborating with Shanghai Jiao Tong University on a cross-university, virtual clean energy hackathon.
A hackathon is a form of challenge-based learning where teams work to solve problems through rapidly prototyping, refining and pitching solutions. We're putting on our own spin on this by posing a global problem, equity in the energy transition, and teaming up with our counterparts at SJTU to create an opportunity for cross-university, international problem solving.
What are the key details I need to know?
- The event will run across 19th-20th March. Each day will run 9:30am-2pm. We've factored in plenty of breaks and we'll be laying on a lunch so your brains are well fuelled.
- You'll be asked to develop solutions focussed on equity in the clean energy transition.
- You'll work in cross-university teams of 4-6 students to navigate the challenges facing different communities impacted by this transition.
- We will host our UCL cohort onsite in one room so you must be available within the UK on both dates to apply.
- We are hosting a compulsory virtual pre-hackathon mixer March 19th 9am-10am so make sure to save this date too.
- We're bringing in a series of charity and community partners to represent community perspectives.
